Jillian and Mitchell met on a dating app and met in person several weeks later on their first date at Jillian’s apartment. Right before Mitchell was due to arrive, Jillian’s bathtub faucet exploded! Mitchell walked in to find her surrounded by tools and immediately knew she was unlike any girl he had met. They spent the rest of the date chatting and playing Bananagrams while waiting for maintenance to arrive. A few months later, Mitchell asked Jillian to be his girlfriend in the most romantic way: on the beach at sunset! The couple soon fell head over heels for each other, flying to meet each other’s families in Colorado and Texas over the winter holidays. At the end of the following year, Mitchell popped the question in Los Angeles at the scenic Griffith Observatory Overlook. After Jillian said yes, the happy pair celebrated the next day with a trip to Disneyland. We adore their love story! It was our pleasure to plan their dream destination wedding at The Broadmoor. Wedding Dress Shopping at KleinfeldBefore their big day, the couple flew to New York City to shop for Jillian’s wedding dress at the famed Kleinfeld Bridal salon, as seen on Say Yes to the Dress! Jillian had her fairytale moment with a Dupioni silk ballgown. The romantic off-the-shoulder style featured a beaded sweetheart neckline and lace brocade bodice on top of a flowing skirt, perfect for an elegant Broadmoor wedding. Meanwhile, Mitchell selected a stunning pair of bridal shoes for Jillian. He chose the Hammond Feather Pump, a fun and flirty sandal with a sky-high heel and feathered strap from Something Bleu. Classic Destination Wedding at The BroadmoorJillian grew up in Colorado and always knew she wanted to say “I do” at the iconic Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs when the day came. However, she and Mitchell lived in California throughout their engagement, making Colorado wedding planning more difficult. Enter Sapphire Celebrations! Our team was happy to help the couple plan and design their celebration and build a vendor team of Colorado’s most skilled wedding professionals. Jillian wanted a classic and elegant wedding design that would enhance the beauty of The Broadmoor and First Christian Church, the couple’s ceremony venue. We accomplished the look she wanted with a simple and timeless blush-and-white color palette with navy blue accents. Statice Floral designed the floral arrangements, including Jillian’s bouquet of roses and silver dollar eucalyptus. Meanwhile, the bride managed the design and printing process for the couple’s custom navy blue-and-white wedding invitations with Perfect Press. We loved getting to know this sweet couple and helping them plan their destination wedding at The Broadmoor! As preferred planners with this legendary Colorado Springs venue, we have extensive experience designing weddings there. Wedding Lounge Ideas for Your Colorado EventWhy We Love Wedding LoungesAt Sapphire Celebrations, we love wedding lounges! They’re the perfect blend of beauty and function, adding an extra touch of luxury to your celebration while providing a comfortable place for your guests to sit and catch up. They’re also a great way to add an extra layer of personalization to your event. You can rent furniture in your wedding colors and even print pillows with your wedding monogram! Favorite Colorado Event Rental CompaniesOver the years, we’ve worked with several Colorado event rental companies to create stunning wedding lounge areas. Colorado Party Rentals helped us create this beautiful, boho-inspired layout at an outdoor mountain wedding. We were obsessed with everything about this design, from the leather chairs and patterned pillows to the plush ivory rug! We’ve also had wonderful experiences working with Focus Event Design (see image above), Design Works Events, and Wallflower Rentals (see image below). When one of our couples requests a wedding lounge, we work with them to plan the perfect layout and design for their event. We highly recommend working with a planner to choose a rental company and incorporate this element into your wedding. However, here are a few tips to help you get started! Four Tips to Create the Perfect Wedding Lounge AreaChoose Colors from Your Wedding PaletteWe recommend choosing colors that match your wedding’s overall palette when picking out your rental furniture. This tip will help you create a cohesive, professional-looking design! Add Personal TouchesWe love including a coffee table in a wedding lounge to incorporate more personal details into the design, like a vase of your favorite flowers or a few framed engagement portraits. You can also personalize your lounge pillows with screen-printed photos, your wedding monogram, or a pattern that matches your theme. Consider Your Guest ListConsider your guest list when deciding how large to make your wedding lounge area. You want it to accommodate 10% of your guest list comfortably so your loved ones can each have an opportunity to enjoy the comfortable seating. If you’re inviting over 150 guests, consider renting two lounges and placing them in separate areas of your reception. Choose an Intentional LocationThink about the purpose you want your lounge area to serve and go from there when choosing its location within your reception layout. For example, do you want it near the dance floor for when your guests need a break? Or do you want it further away from the party where your guests can enjoy an intimate conversation space? If you’re considering incorporating soft seating into your Colorado event, we hope these wedding lounge ideas have inspired you! You definitely can’t go wrong by making this detail part of your special day. Our team would love to help you plan and design your distinctive event, whether you’re looking for Full-Service Planning or Month-Of Coordination. Connect with us to get started! Vendors:Choosing your Colorado wedding photographer is a big decision! After you get engaged, they’re one of the first vendors you should book, preceded only by your wedding planner and venue. Accordingly, searching for this vendor and the pressure of choosing the right one can be overwhelming. However, when you hire a wedding planner to guide you through the process, it doesn’t have to be! As Colorado wedding planners, we frequently assist our clients with finding the perfect local photographer to fit their needs. We’re familiar with the best of the best and know what couples need to ask a photographer (or themselves!) before deciding to book. So, we’ve created this list of the top seven questions you should consider before taking the plunge! Read on to familiarize yourself with them before hopping on a discovery call. 7 Questions to Ask Your Colorado Wedding PhotographerDo I Need a Second Shooter? While hiring a photographer with a second shooter is slightly pricier, it’s an expense that we suggest all couples consider before booking a photographer. The reason is simple: having two lenses capturing your day ensures no meaningful moment or detail goes undocumented! Often, the second shooter will capture your wedding day details so the primary photographer can focus on being present in the moment. Two cameras also increase the chance that your photographer won’t miss those special, candid moments between you and your guests. If you’re still undecided, ask to see two galleries from a prospective photographer—one with and one without a second shooter. This way, you can ensure you’re happy with the final product that only one photographer can provide you versus two. Do I Need a Wedding Album? In our opinion? Yes, or you won’t ever print one! Trust us—these are some of the most important photos of your life, and you’ll want to treasure them forever. But after the excitement of the big day dies down and the busyness of life picks back up, the last thing you’ll be thinking about is going through the work of designing and printing a wedding album. Hence, it’s best to hire a photographer to perform this service for you! Some photographers already include an album in their packages, while others have it as an add-on. We recommend going through your photographer for your wedding album rather than on an online site for more than just convenience. With a professional photographer, you can expect an heirloom-quality album. In other words, the colors won’t fade, the pages won’t rip, and the binding won’t fall apart as the album sees wear and tear over time. It’ll last you for years, so you can one day show your children and grandchildren the images from that special day! Moreover, don’t forget to ask about albums for your parents and grandparents—they make great gifts for them or anyone who occupies a special place in your heart! Can I See a Full Wedding Gallery?Social media and websites only show a tiny fraction of a photographer’s work. So, always ask to see a full wedding gallery if you’re seriously considering hiring a photographer! Look over the whole gallery to assess how the photographer handles low-lighting situations (especially if your venue is indoors) and if you like their use of flash. Doing this will also give you a sense of how they style flatlays, pose their couples, and capture guests. Is an Engagement Session Required? We always encourage our clients to book an engagement session with their wedding photographer, whether required or not! This session is a great opportunity to meet your photographer face-to-face and get comfortable with being in front of their camera. While you can always put this off until your wedding day, we highly advise against it! The last thing you want is to feel uncomfortable on your special day—or worse, end up unhappy with your photos. Some photographers include a complimentary engagement session in their packages, while others have it as an add-on. Be sure to also clarify this before deciding to book! How Would You Describe Your Photography Style? There are many wedding photography styles, and there is a Colorado wedding photographer to suit any couple’s taste! Styles can vary according to editing (e.g., light and airy vs. true-to-life color vs. dark and moody), how the photographer uses light, and how they pose (or don’t pose!) their couples. As you browse different photographers’ galleries, consider which one most closely aligns with your vision. For example, do you love posed portraits or prefer a documentary-style approach? Keep in mind that photographers usually have a set editing style that reflects their artistry and preferences. So, if you’re interested in a dual approach like Hybrid Film Photography, only reach out to those who offer it (i.e., don’t ask a photographer to “change” their editing style for you!). Do I Feel Comfortable With This Photographer? You’ll spend more time with your photographer than any other vendor on your wedding day, so it’s crucial that you feel comfortable with them! If you’re worried about feeling anxious behind the camera, working with a high-energy introvert when you’re a reserved introvert isn’t going to help (and vice versa). Try to get a sense of a photographer’s personality while on a discovery call to gauge if you would enjoy working with them. What is Plan B if Something Unexpected Happens? The best photographers don’t just have an associate photographer or second shooter. They also have a thorough Plan B worked out in case of unexpected circumstances such as illness or inclement weather. If a prospective photographer doesn’t have an answer to this question, we recommend moving on with your search! While choosing a Colorado wedding photographer can be stressful, you can mitigate the stress with the help of a wedding planner and this list of seven questions. With answers to these questions, you’ll be prepared to hire the photographer who is the best fit for your needs and personality! Are you ready to start planning your Colorado wedding?
