Sofia and Joseph went from saying “yes” to forever to saying “I do” at Wild Basin Lodge in just six months! With the help of an experienced wedding planner, it is entirely possible to plan your Colorado wedding on a time crunch. All you need is open communication and a bit of trust! Planning a Colorado Wedding in Under a YearWhen Sofia and her mother contacted us, they presented us with the challenge of planning a wedding in six months—and we were more than up for the challenge! Joseph had just popped the question, and Sofia had a precise date in mind for becoming Mrs. Walker. We wasted no time getting to work, and it wasn’t long before we found the perfect reception venue: Wild Basin Lodge in Allenspark, Colorado! Besides embodying the couple’s rustic mountain aesthetic, it had the exact date open that the bride requested. In addition, the venue was nearby a Catholic church, Our Lady of the Mountains, in Estes Park. The couple is committed to their faith and decided to be married in a traditional mass. Finding a location not far from a church was essential, so we were thrilled to discover that Wild Basin Lodge and Our Lady of the Mountains were a mere 14 miles apart! On the day of, Blue River Transportation ensured guests were shuttled swiftly and smoothly from one location to another. Once our team had located both venues, all that remained was to assemble an all-star team of local Colorado vendors. Ali and Garrett Photography captured the day beautifully in their signature authentic style. We were blown away by the portraits they took of the happy couple despite rainy conditions! And we were delighted to collaborate again with Statice Floral. Lori and her team specialize in handpicked, organic arrangements, and the bouquet they created for Sofia was exceptional. With creamy roses, snapdragons, and stems of greenery, it coordinated perfectly with the day’s white and green palette. Reception at Wild Basin LodgeThe 8,000-square-foot reception space at Wild Basin Lodge was ideal for accommodating Sofia and Joseph’s long guest list. The couple decided to take advantage of the venue’s in-house catering and bar services and couldn’t have been happier with their choice! The all-vegetarian menu was light yet satisfying, showcasing local ingredients. It’s no secret that weddings can be wasteful, and sustainability was a chief concern for this couple. So, instead of creating disposable centerpieces, we sourced potted plants and herbs to add an organic touch to each table. At the end of the night, we encouraged guests to take them home and replant them! For couples on a budget, doubling up on centerpiece decor and guest favors is also a great way to save money. But by far, the highlight of the evening was the entertainment by Brandon Jones Band. Sofia and Joseph saw them perform at Grizzly Rose in Denver on one of their first dates, and they quickly became the couple’s favorite country band. They drove all night from a music festival in South Dakota to perform at the couple’s wedding reception! Wild Basin Lodge was the perfect setting for this rustic affair, and we had so much fun taking on the challenge of planning everything in under a year. Are you planning a Colorado wedding in 2023? They came to us having already booked their venue, The Broadmoor. However, they needed guidance on building a vendor team and bringing their vision of an intimate winter wedding to life from their home in Texas. The bride and her mother traveled to Colorado Springs once during the planning process. Otherwise, we communicated entirely through Zoom, texts, and emails! As experts on weddings at The Broadmoor (and a preferred vendor at the resort), we had the resources to guide them comfortably through the process. See the highlights below! Planning a Colorado Destination WeddingAshley and Barrette selected their closest loved ones to attend their winter wedding in Colorado Springs. Most of their guests traveled from Texas to participate in the celebration, so it was a treat for all attending! The resort looked breathtaking under a bed of fresh snow, like the couple and their guests had just walked into a scene from a snow globe. Initially, we helped the couple plan an outdoor ceremony on the shores of Cheyenne Lake. But when temperatures dropped on the wedding week, we shifted to plan B: an intimate ceremony in the Fountain Room, located in The Broadmoor’s Main Building. This reduced the time the couple’s guests spent outside in the elements and ensured that everyone was snug and warm through the I dos! Intimate Ceremony in The Broadmoor Fountain RoomBefore their ceremony, the couple and their wedding party braved the cold for portraits with Studio Lemus. There is something so magical about winter wedding photography! Ashley and Barrette glowed with joy as snow softly swirled through the air. Then, it was on to the Fountain Room to say their vows. The backdrop for the couple’s ceremony was a custom-built wooden cross. Meanwhile, a blend of red and blush roses with a sprinkling of purple flowers and greenery by DesignWorks added a touch of romance. The bride’s father and stepfather escorted her down the aisle as light poured into the space through floor-to-ceiling windows. Post-ceremony, the couple’s remaining portraits with family took place in the Pompeiian Hall. With a convenient location inside the Main Building and a European feel, this elegant space makes the perfect indoor backdrop. Winter Wedding Reception in The Crystal RoomOur team collaborated with DesignWorks to transform the resort’s Crystal Room into an intimate dining space set for the couple and their 30 guests. We placed two long, wooden farm tables at either end of the room to encourage conversation and a family-style atmosphere. In addition, each place setting featured a wooden name plate that doubled as a favor for guests to take home. But our favorite special touch was the personalized notes that Ashley and Barrette wrote for each guest! It was the perfect way to express their thanks and let each loved one know how much they meant to them. Throughout the evening, a string trio provided by Ken Miller Entertainment entertained guests. The trio played classical wedding favorites during the couple’s ceremony and cocktail hour, then shifted into contemporary pieces during dinner and dancing. They even played “Forever” by Chris Brown as a homage to Pam and Jim’s wedding in the couple’s favorite TV series, The Office! We always encourage our couples hosting intimate wedding celebrations to hire a string trio that can play multiple genres of music. This form of entertainment won’t overpower a small space but will still set the tone for the evening. Work With Sapphire CelebrationsThis wedding in The Broadmoor Fountain Room exemplified everything we love about intimate weddings!
