Birthday Party Planner | Thing 1 & Thing 2 Birthday

What better way to celebrate a birthday than with a party? And if that celebration is for twins, then it must be twice as good! One creative mother decided to throw an adventurous and colorful party for her 5 year old twins.​

The mom and Sapphire Celebrations worked together and took inspiration from Dr. Seuss's book The Cat in the Hat and used Thing 1 and Thing 2 as the theme of this big, milestone birthday. The birthday party was hosted at their home, as they welcomed 80 of their closest family and friends. We decorated their home with elaborate Cat in the Hat balloon decor and utilized all of those fun colors in every detail of the event.

Birthday party guests were greeted at home by both Thing 1 and Thing 2 balloon pillars! As guests headed to the backyard, they were met with more balloons (including a 12ft tall Cat in The Hat), a photo booth and even a face painter and balloon artist!

With this Dr. Seuss theme, these twins' birthday party was complete with fun food and drinks for kids of all ages. Relish Catering provided some of the twins’ favorite foods, while we also took ‘a page’ from Dr. Seuss and created signage with the mischievous cat to identify each station. The food options included a sliders station, french fry station with different dipping sauces, a ‘Top It Off’ Mac and Cheese station, and completed with individual salad cups. And of course, no party is complete without dessert, and each twin had their own personal Thing inspired cake made by The Makery. No birthday party is complete without the additional sugar rush, so we also brought in the lime green Dessert Truck for additional desserts for guests. Wash all of the goodies down with the Blue Berry Lemonade or the Red Fruit Punch. For the guests who are true kids at heart, they were enticed with a full bar as well as a Create Your Own Mimosa or the Create Your Own Bloody Mary bars. 

Once filled to the max with fun food and libations, guests could use the Cat in the Hat themed photo booth props and take a photo, have their face painted with elaborate paintings, or have a custom made balloon creation. The entertainment was endless!

No child’s birthday party is complete without the individual balloons and favors for their classmates and guests. We made sure to keep the girls and their friends at top of mind while we brought in the child sized tables, chairs and teal and red linens. The kids were met with an individual, colorful balloon as well as a favor box (of course with a Cat in the Hat sticker). Each of their individual place settings and favor boxes included themed activities so they could become their own Dr. Seuss character!
